Night 9

 Ive fallen down and rabbit hole. It so much easier to just put all your poker chips on Baha'i and let it ride IF one doesn't believe there's nothing else to lose. This is why, I imagine, the majority of the 12 disciples were vulnerable to the Christ 's socialism economy. And radical social message. There's always a thoughtful 1 or 2 libertarians, free thinkers, in any random? group of a dozen. But the downside is that they're also unconsciously ambitious. They're under control because the leader's impressive credentials, but after His passing the sheep skin is removed.


 Baha'i community history is so familiar with this pattern. Islam  probably sees  the split as a act of God. 😜 The rabbit hole I'm inside of is a popular explanation of modern civilization. called How the World Really Works by Vaclav Smil. I'm slowly taking the trouble to get under the surface of his story. I can't do this with every paragraph or even every page, but definitely a few times in a chapter. He footnotes a crazy number of facts 
85 in chapter 1, Understanding Energy 

81 in Chapter 2 Understanding Food Production 

109 in  Chapter 3, Understanding our Material World 

102 in Chapter 4, Understanding Globalization 

I've then used AI Search to get the same idea footnoted by Prof Smil from other point of view, as well as the policy slant of Smil's source, to get guess why he chose that source. This is really time consuming 😭😭😭 of course I read about reporters doing it, it's called " fact-checking". But I don't get any credit for doing this 😜, so Im boasting to you for sympathy or attention 😜👍👍, or? 

Yes I admit I'm doing a half - ass job. Or even quarter assed.  And so rather than studying kanji. Another fruitless task. 

So what truth am I uncovers for all this?? Assed effort? Well it's not a simple one. I'm irritated with Smil first by  he's organization. If I uncovers a disputable fact or opinion without evidence, I have to wait in the end of the book to seeing how he covers for smaller bias or omissions. THIS is definitely "A BiG PICTURE" of what has happened in a few hundred years. Secondly his opinion is often simplified. Thirdly his opinion is based on ongoing research that is controversial, but he will make a 1 sentence summation that's almost unnoticed. Fourthly he knows how to make a bold opinion and then later qualify the opposite side in a weaker way. So the reader is first hit by his organization of his opinion and then later almost in a side comment, he will wave at other alternatives as being unsupported by the REALITY, This is the reason why his title is how the world REALLY works. 

So there's ALOT of useful information to see once and forget the details of. He is trying to be the Kissinger of Environmental action. Pay attention to the way things really are before you try to change them. Things are this way because of the trends and logic of men's business relationships nation state.relationships, costs traditions,  prejudice and bias.

Night 4

 There is an atmosphere now created by the music of the Rudra    veena : Raag Madhuwanti I barely know anything to say about this music except I like it. I have taken to it because it expresses an ethereal calm. yet, the piece builds into an imaginary climax while continuing to occupy the mind with the repetative drone of the two strings. The young woman musician is very pleasing to glance at from time to time.  I  have set up at last, to draw using the old practice papers I have collected from years ago.
